Egress Window Installations

Who says that all egress windows have to look and function the same? At R.F. Woehrmyer Concrete Construction, Inc., we offer multiple window well options that are dependent on your window sizes, wants, needs or desires. With that in mind, we have the ability to offer brick-faced concrete wells, Rockwell window wells (made of fiberglass), and metal wells. Get in touch with one of our experts to discuss the many options that are available to you.

What is a Egress Window?
Egress windows have multiple functions for a new basement install or even an existing that needs updated or finished off.  By adding Egress Windows it provides  a secondary emergency exit and provides natural light to your basement.  All rooms that are used for sleeping purposes and basements that have habitable spaces are required to have egress windows.  If it is a new house or even a existing house that has bedrooms in the basement it is required to have an egress window installed in each room in order to meet the required code.

What are the requirments?

  • An egress window must satisfy four International Residential Code (IRC) criteria:
  • Minimum width of opening: 20 in.
  • Minimum height of opening: 24 in.
  • Minimum net clear opening: 5.7 sq. ft. (5.0 sq. ft. for ground floor).
  • Maximum sill height above floor: 44 in
